About you work

Discipline: painting

Technique: multimedia

Statement:        I try to make painting within this century.
I began working around the computer, the video games, in the same time as a way to perceive space, and considering them as the new tales, the new myths… (I’m very interested with Stella’s approach or Albert Oehlen’s way of using rubbishes).
The brain as some kind of “glove compartment”
(Just like Jean-Luc Godard talking about cinema as “this sum of magnificent signs bathing in the light of their absence of explanation”.
I also try to walk on this very small point where the photographic, the sculptural and the painting lines are crossing each others; that’s how, I’ve been developing a work around “printing”; I mean painting without a hand; with the help of a machine (screen-printing, inkjet), with the light (working directly on the silk, with photographic paper, more recently with offset plates).
I’m also working, with wax, wood, plastics… trying to be very close to sculpture, or “low relief” (for example, in my “silk paintings”, the transparency/opacity relations and the remoteness from the wall made some kind of “3D” object.
Finally, I try to assume painting as an historical process: a medium with a large history, a medium talking also about itself, as an object, as a projection; a utopia.

Plans for your residency?

Go on wondering about these relations between painting and machine ; working with recycled materials, just as I do in paintings, but through space.
